MEET MISS PENNSYLVANIA'S OUTSTANDING TEEN
ALYSA BAINBRIDGE

Alysa Bainbridge is a senior at Schuylkill Valley High School and a resident of Leesport, PA. She has always had a love for the Miss America Organization, and begged her parents to let her compete in the Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen program for years! At the age of 15, she won her hometown title of Miss Greater Reading’s Outstanding Teen. She also held the titles of Miss White Rose City’s Outstanding Teen and Miss State Capitol’s Outstanding Teen before going on to fulfill her dream of being named Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen 2016.

Throughout her three years as a local titleholder, Alysa has made nearly 100 appearances and completed innumerable community service hours. Her platform is called “Coming Out of the Darkness: Raising Awareness of Bipolar Disorder.” Mental health awareness is a cause that hits very close to home for Alysa, as she has two siblings who suffer from bipolar disorder. She has made it her mission to put an end to the sigma that is associated with mental illness and to prove that illness defines no one. Alysa has traveled across Pennsylvania and New Jersey speaking about her family’s struggle with mental illness, was featured in Bipolar Magazine with Demi Lovato, was featured on a mental health segment on her local television station, and serves as an ambassador for an organization called Attitudes in Reverse. This year, she led her own team, Alysa’s Monarchs, at the Walk for Mental Wellness in Reading and was honored by the Greater Reading Mental Health Alliance for being their top fundraiser.

Alysa’s other passion lies in dancing. She has been dancing since the age of three and is trained in all styles of dance, lyrical being her favorite. She has been a member of the Dance Gallery Competition Team since the age of 10 and has won numerous competitive dance awards. More recently, she became a member of the Reading Fightin’ Phils Junior Pro Dance Team.

Aside from pageants and dancing, Alysa is very involved in her school community. In fact, she is in almost every club her school offers, including Student Council, National Honor Society, PYEA Service Club, LEO Service Club, Mock Trial, School Newspaper Staff, Literary Magazine Club, Spirit Week Hall Decorating Committee, the Ophelia Project, and the Big Panther/Little Panther Mentoring Program. In addition, she has been ranked in the top 10 of her class since her freshman year, is enrolled in various Honors and AP courses, and is dual enrolled at Reading Area Community College.

Alysa could not be more excited and proud to represent Pennsylvania this year!
